Any good forest destination includes a great hiking trail, and Greenbrier State Forest does not disappoint. If you enter by Hart’s Run Creek, you can experience an 18-mile trail system that takes you 3,800 ft above sea level looking out over valleys and vast countryside. It’s a site to behold and the sense of accomplishment you’ll feel upon reaching the top is worth every minute!
If you visit between Memorial Day and Labor Day, you can cool off with a relaxing dip in the pool. The park’s pool isn’t your average public pool – it comes with the special amenities of a baby pool for the little ones, swimming lessons, and water aerobics. Best of all…this pool is HEATED!
Greenbrier State Forest offers camping with plenty of RV spaces complete electric hookups, which will benefit your trip tremendously!If you want to stay on-site inside the forest, the campground here is only open between mid-April and the end of November each year, so it’s important to time your stay carefully.

While fishing is common in large publicly accessible forests, hunting usually isn’t. However, with a proper license, you can do both within Greenbrier National Forests! For the those hunting and fishing enthusiasts out there, do your prep work, and enjoy yourselves in the great outdoors!
